Previous indexing states

We've introduced a brand new feature to our tool for all our customers: Previous Indexing States metrics for all monitored pages.

At Indexing Insight we’ve built a solution that allows our customers to view previous indexing states for all monitored page URLs.

What are these new metrics?

The new previous indexing state metrics are key events that are recorded by Indexing Insight for every page.

What you can do with this new report:

• Identify when a page's index coverage state changed.
• Identify if a page is being forgotten by Google Search.
• Identify if a page is be considered low-quality by Google Search.

The new metrics are perfect for SEO teams who want to debug mysterious indexing issues or understand why a page has crawling issues.

How does the report work?

The new metrics work by Indexing Insight recording when a page URL last had the specific indexing states.

Google Search Console doesn't record any historic record for a URL.

At Indexing Insight we record the event when it detects a page URL index coverage state changes to one of the following:

• Crawled - currently not indexed
• Discovered - currently not indexed
• URL is Unknown to Google

Even if a page URL state changes to 'Submitted and Indexed' there is still a historic record in the page URL. And this can be used by our customers to better understand how historic indexing changes impacted a page URLs appearence in search.
